Veterinary Technician

Duties

• Maintain working order of instruments/equipment/monitors
• Support veterinarians in carrying out all daily activities
• Perform technical procedures without supervision in dogs, cats, and rabbits, including:
• Collection of vital parameters such as temperature/pulse/respiration
• Venipuncture
• IV and urinary catheter placement
• Anesthetic induction and intubation
• Anesthetic monitoring and maintenance
• Surgical preparation
• Extubation and recovery from anesthetic
• Running blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples on in-house Idexx machines
• Prepping blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples for review by a pathologist at a send-out lab.

Requirements

• Completion of a two- or three-year animal health/veterinary technology college program is required
• 5+ years of experience as a veterinary technician is required
