Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment that is committed to excellent medicine and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

Responsibilities

Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to:

• Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations
• Create treatment plans, conduct diagnostics, and provide dentistry services
• Observe, assist or perform surgical procedures
• Manage patients medically
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
