Utility Locator/Operator

Job Description
Position Overview
The Utility Locator & Equipment Operator is responsible for safely locating underground utilities and operating heavy equipment in support of excavation, directional boring, and infrastructure projects. This role works as part of a small field crew and is hands-on, safety-focused, and field-driven. Hourly pay can vary from $25/hr to $33/hr depending on experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Operate construction and locating equipment, including Ditch Witch, Vermeer, and related subsurface tools
-Perform basic utility locating to identify underground lines prior to excavation
- Run or assist with equipment such as directional boring machines, excavators, and pothole machines
- Work as part of a 4-person crew (crew size may vary by job)
- Perform manual/hand work as needed to support job completion
- Travel to job sites across Iowa with potential opportunities for national travel
