Job Details
• Responsible for using a special type of x-ray equipment to measure bone mineral density at specific anatomical sites such as wrist, heel, spine, or hip, or to calculate total body bone mineral content.
• Prepares patients for procedures by explaining processes, answering questions, and coordinating schedules.
• Performs scans, reviews findings to determine appropriate tests, and recommends alternative scan sites.
• Oversees lab operation and maintenance of densitometer, computer equipment, and patient records.
• Coordinates with pharmaceutical companies on protocols and recordkeeping.
• Conducts scans using knowledge and performance of systematic deviations from established clinical protocols.
• Ensures proper maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory; maintains stocks and supplies.
