Job Description

Purpose of Position:Works under the supervision of the Manager and Surgeon helping to facilitate a safe, effectiveand orderly operating room in order to maximize the patient’s safety.
Description
: Prepares the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes and sterile solutions.Scrub arms and hands and assist the surgical team to scrub and put on gloves, masks, and surgical clothing.During surgery passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeon and surgeon’s assistants.Holds retractors, cuts sutures, passes needles, supplies and instruments.Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.Prepares, cares for, and disposes of specimens taken for laboratory analysis.Utilizes preference cards to ensure appropriate instrumentation and equipmentAssists in transporting patients to the Operating Room and helps position patients on the Operating Room table.Understands and uses the appropriate s...
