**Position Description:** **Surgical Technologist Certified Department Pool**

+ The Surgical Technologist Department Pool is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of an RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.

**Status:** Pool, Exempt: No

**Shift Hours:** variable

**Weekend Work:** Occasional

**On Call:** Yes

**Requirements:**

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program
+ CST (Surgical Tech) certification
+ Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

**Specific Skills:**

+ Must have knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up as well as laser equipment use and maintenance.
