Substitute teachers are an integral part of the collaborative school team. Substitute Teacher Responsibilities: Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for the students. Promote continued learning. Follow lesson plans created by the teacher. If necessary, create his/her own lesson plans in accordance with the Alberta Education Programs of Study and the absent teacher’s unit plans and/or long range plans.
