Department of Engineering Science, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Marcella Wing, Botnar Research Centre, Old Road, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LD This appointment will strengthen the Department’s research in Biomedical Engineering and strengthen the research of the Biomedical Ultrasonics, Biotherapy and Biopharmaceuticals Laboratory (BUBBL). The group’s current expertise includes applications of biomedical acoustics to non-invasive surgery, drug delivery, transdermal vaccination, immune-modulation and a number of other emerging therapeutic ultrasound applications; the development of novel signal processing techniques to enable real-time treatment monitoring, including cavitation detection, passive acoustic mapping and ultrasound localization microscopy; the development and refinement of relevant pre-clinical models to enhance and validate the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-based interventions; and the initiation and contribution to first-in-human trials of novel ultrasound-based ...
