SEN Teaching Assistants

Desian Education is supporting a mainstream primary school in Widnes and looking to appoint experienced and motivated SEN teaching assistants for full‑time long‑term contracts starting from September. The school has a large percentage of SEN intake and will match each assistant with a specific pupil for 1:1 support.

Your new role

• Play a vital role in the education, development and inclusion of a specific pupil with SEND.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies (traffic light systems, sensory play, now & next, etc.).
• Use PECs, Makaton and other visual references to encourage communication.
• Work in collaboration with external professionals including occupational therapists, educational psychologists and SALT.
• Act as the main point of contact throughout the school day, including meeting the pupil at the school gate and walking them back to their home at the end of the day.
• Support during break and lunch times....
