About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Technician to join us and contribute to crucial conservation work. In this unique and largely field‑based position you’ll be carrying out research on the Critically Endangered Pukunui/Southern New Zealand Dotterel on Rakiura Stewart Island during the upcoming breeding season.
Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive field surveys
- Monitor birds and nests
- Set up nest cameras
- Collect, manage and enter data
- Summarise data and report
- Organise and lead field trips
Skills and experience
- Strong back‑country experience with off‑track navigation skills
- Experience working independently in remote, exposed locations
- GIS mapping skills
- Report writing and analysis
- Experience in leading projects or teams
