Job Description
Purpose
The Medical Radiation Technologist is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of ordered DI examinations and the day to day operation of the area to which they are assigned within the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Technologists are responsible for the safe dispensing of controlled energy sources as defined by the Regulated Health Professional Act, including ionizing radiation.
Duties
- Exam and equipment preparation
- Ensure an orderly work area
- Prepare patients
- Prepare contrast
- Arrange equipment needed
- Prioritize waiting exams
- Perform DI Exams (including but not limited to Fluoroscopic, CT, Mammography, Interventional procedures)
- Confirm patient and exam identification (Double Identify)
- Obtain consent and verify pregnancy potential
- Assist Radiologist as needed
