Public Safety Officer I

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

+ Patrols and monitors the RIT campus grounds to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Maintains a visible and approachable presence to provide confidence in university security and deter criminal activity

+ Assists with and coordinates emergency response during medical incidents, fire evacuations, and natural disasters

+ Identifies suspicious activity and security breaches, responds to calls for service, and addresses disturbances, noise complaints, trespassing, theft, and other security related incidents on campus

+ Reports security incidents and documents all details thoroughly and accurately for follow up action, investigation, or insurance claims. Communicates with law enforcement, emergency services, and university administrators as needed
