Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) – Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS)

Location: Aylesbury, HP21 7FT.

Salary: £24,596 (35hrs per week), rising to £25,555 from 1 September 2026. Salary progression: Year 2: £26,191; Year 3: £26,684; Year 4: £27,180.

Shift pattern: 24/6 rotating roster. Shifts are set on a 12‑week rota. Flexibility and occasional overtime may be required. Part‑time working may be considered across full days only.

Responsibilities

• Escort detainees within court, including courtrooms, cells and facilities.
• Supervise detainees during hearings to maintain safety and security.
• Manage sensitive situations and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Support detainee welfare, including access to food, drink, and wellbeing checks.
• Monitor behaviour and respond to incidents or risks.
• Conduct searches to maintain a secure environment.
