Summary About the Position: Serves as a Prescription Eyeglass Maker for the United States Medical Department Activity at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Performs a variety of duties involved in the fabrication of prescription eyeglasses and other eyewear such as sunglasses, gas mask inserts, eye pro inserts, etc. The employee may perform a specific task for an extended period of time, but is required to be skilled in and to rotate to all other tasks as needed. Responsibilities Receives prescriptions from the Customer Service Department. Sorts and trays work tickets for processing and selects proper lenses from stock. Operates Lab Management Software for operation of Lab equipment using the Automated Blocking machinery to prepare lenses for edging. In addition, can manually check lens power on lens measuring unit, spot optical center and stamp with a cutting line. Operate optical equipment such as edgers, blocker and Lensometers.
