Molecular and Cellular Biology Position Description A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Murthy laboratory at Harvard University to study olfactory learning and behavior in mice. We seek a highly motivated individual with an interest in olfactory physiology and behavior. Our group is interested in understanding the neural and algorithmic basis of sensory-guided behaviors in terrestrial animals. We have developed behavioral tasks in mice using stimuli and situations that approximate natural settings, while allowing electrophysiological recordings, high-resolution optical imaging and optogenetic manipulation. In the current project, we are interested in studying learning and plasticity in the olfactory system. The olfactory tubercle is a ventral striatal brain region implicated in reward processing and motivated behaviors including addiction.
