At we study how societies can transition towards sustainability. Building on physics and systems analysis, our interdisciplinary research connects technical and social sciences to address challenges such as climate change, energy transitions and sustainable land use. 

About the research project 

The research will develop and apply quantitative models to analyse how new environmental constraints affect hydropower operation, flexibility, and system value. At the same time, the project explores opportunities for capacity additions and how this can make hydropower support a power system with increasing shares of variable renewable energy.
