PhD Fellow in Indigenous Studies in an International or Comparative Perspective

UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Centre for Sámi Studies (SESAM), is inviting applications for a PhD Fellow in Social Anthropology. The position is full‑time, temporary, to be based at SESAM in Tromsø, and will commence upon admission to the PhD programme.

Responsibilities

• Complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree, including the doctoral project co‑supervised by scholars at SESAM.
• Conduct an international comparison of policies and institutions related to Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, or Indigenous peoples’ education and research in a historical perspective, or implementation of reconciliation measures.
• Use a variety of methodologies, such as text studies, archival searches, media studies, social media analysis and narrative approaches, according to the candidate’s competence.
• Collaborate closely with faculty members, students and colleagues at SESAM.
