Primary Function

Prepares and distributes medications, maintains drug inventory, and provides patient care under the direction of a Clinical Pharmacist.

Responsibilities

-Fills and delivers medication through Pyxis Med Station RX System. Determines when IV’s and minibags are due by making rounds on each nursing unit. Prepares and delivers large volume intravenous mixtures, antibiotic minibags, and total parental nutrition solutions. Pre-packs bulk medications and compound ointments, creams and oral solutions. Sets up and refills crash cart trays. Restocks supplies, solutions additives, cleans IV hoods.

-Assists the Clinical Pharmacist in entering new TPN orders, update the database, and screens telephone calls.

-Provides quality assurance by completing departmental monthly competencies. Updates policies and procedures for JCAHO compliance and maintain monthly logs by recording medication -refrigerator temperatures and narcotic inve...
