**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**

Under direction of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician contributes to the basic patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient. The Patient Care Technician is also responsible for performing monitor technician duties which include continuous observation of patient heartbeat patterns, noting heartbeat irregularities in the patients’ telemetry rhythm, ensuring that heart monitors are functioning correctly, and reporting any concerns to the RN in charge of the patient/charge nurse.
