Pathology Assistant (Surgical Pathology)

The Pathologists Assistant Laboratory performs routine tests in a medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Performs manual and automated routine blood tests
+ Prepares specimens for microscopic examination
+ Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators and blood bank refrigerators
+ Applies standard laboratory concepts, practices and procedures within a defined field; may specialize in hematology, blood bank, cytology, histology, or chemistry
+ Performs daily instrument maintenance and quality control
+ Knowledge of critical values
+ Maintains accurate records and data reporting
+ Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control
+ Ensures to comply with HIPAA, CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatory requirements • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
