Job Responsibilities

• Examine patients’ eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, medications, or vision therapy to treat eye conditions.
• Monitor the development of patients’ eyesight over time.
• Educate patients on proper visual health maintenance and how to choose appropriate eyewear for their lifestyle.
• Recommend vision‑protection strategies and refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary.
• Stay current with optometry research and technology by attending professional conferences, seminars, and continuing education courses.
