Under general direction, provide preventative medical care and treatment to patients in clinics and health centers.

Typical Duties

Assess patients' physical health status, perform prescribed physical examinations and preventive health treatments. Involves: Interview patients to obtain medical history and identify patients' health status. Request, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs. Interpret health assessment information to formulate and implement health care plans according to established policies. Prescribe and dispense prescription and non-prescription drugs as needed, based on documented information and symptoms. Support health programs in providing patient care along with social workers, nutritionists, and nursing staff and other paraprofessional personnel from other disciplines.
