About the Role

A Mowing Operator is responsible for maintaining grassed verge areas along roadsides, medians, and public open spaces. This role involves the operation of mowing equipment such as ride-on mowers, zero-turn mowers, and whipper snippers to ensure vegetation is kept at safe and presentable levels in accordance with local council standards. The main duties include:

• Operate a range of mowing machinery and hand-held equipment to maintain grassed verge areas;

• Perform trimming, edging, and whipper snipping around obstacles, signs, posts, and kerbs;

• Identify and report hazards such as litter, dumped rubbish, or overgrown vegetation;

• Conduct routine pre-start checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation;

• Work in a team environment, often along roadsides, with strong focus on traffic and pedestrian safety;
