Mig Welder/Fabricator

The Welder fabricates and assembles metal structures and produces metal products according to customer and employer specifications.

This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties assigned or required but not mentioned.

• Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment


• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications or drawings


• Follows weld and assembly requirements of drawings for assigned product by using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)


• Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc


• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs
