MEDICAL OFFICER, ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Medical Officer is responsible for the total quality management and continuous improvement in line with the Hospital Policies and Procedures as well as legislative requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY (A&E) SERVICES:
  • Attend to all patients who come to A&E services for treatment.
  • Treat patients as deemed fit; if specialist opinion is required, refer the patient to the relevant specialist either immediately or the next day after consulting the specialist and obtaining patient approval and willingness to pay for the consultation.
  • Perform relevant procedures as required, e.g., set up IV drips, catheterization, and take blood for investigations.
  • Arrange immediate admission when necessary after advising the patient, and inform the relevant specialist.
