<p>General Description This position assumes responsibility and accountability for providing direct patient care to a group of patients for a designated time frame on a medical-surgical unit. Astute assessment skills, IV skills, independent decision-making and the ability to function under high stress situations is required. Responsibility Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing, systematic manner. Formulates a goal directed plan of care by establishing priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources. Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations, following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events. Is also responsible for the supervision of any LPN's, Nurse Aides, and assignments to the Medical/Surgical Unit. Accountability The RN reports directly to the Acute Care Services Manager.
