Job Description
Position Purpose
The Mechanical Fabrication Apprentice will learn the skills and knowledge required to fabricate and assemble mechanical components and structures. Under the supervision of experienced craftspeople, the apprentice will develop competence in metal fabrication techniques, machinery operation, workplace safety, and quality standards.
Main responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly
- Assist in the fabrication of metal components using cutting, forming, welding, and machining techniques
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Measure, mark, and prepare materials for fabrication
- Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and structures in accordance with engineering drawings and build instructions
- Fit bearings, shafts, fasteners, seals, brackets, and mechanical fittings
- Use hand tools, torque tools, and measuring equipment correctly
