Job Description

The Mate is the head of deck department and is in command of vessel operations during the Master’s absence. This Mate is responsible for assigning the crew with specific roles with respect to the deck department responsibilities and monitoring that the work is carried out safely and efficiently. 
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 7700 Hopcott Road, Delta 
What You’ll Do
Assists the Master in safe operation of the vessel and maintain crew performance, training, and teamwork.
Fully understands and complies with company safety management system and ensures on board compliance.
Maintains a proper bridge navigation watch.
Monitors cargo operations and leads crew as required.
Approves orders for any deck, vessel, or galley equipment before submitting to the office.
Ensures routine maintenance of all on board safety and deck equipment.
