TheDepartment of Music at Berea College invites applications for an interim orcontinuing adjunct position beginning August 2024 directing the MariachiEnsemble. Rehearsals are 90 minutes for two evenings per week during the Springand Fall terms (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:00pm), with 3-4performances each term. 
MariachiBerea was established in 2015 to expand representation of and exposure to themusical heritage of Hispanic cultures, the fastest growing demographic inAppalachia. Students in the ensemble may be vocalists and/or instrumentalists.The ensemble is typically comprised of trumpets, violins, guitars, vihuela, andguitarrón. AMusic degree is preferred but not required.

Theideal candidate will have an established record of excellence in performingMariachi music. Experience as an ensemble director is a plus. They will alsodemonstrate collegiality and an informed understanding of carrying out BereaC...
