**Purpose and Scope:**
The machinist produces prototype, new, and replacement parts and repairs broken mechanical parts.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

+ Interpreting written instructions and specifications.
+ Planning and laying out of work; using a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
+ Setting up and operating machine tools both manual and numerically controlled.
