Job Description
Summary The Gastroenterology (GI) Medical Instrument Technician (MIT) functions as a member of the GI/ENDO multidisciplinary team and assists the RN in the care of patients in acute, sub-acute, or chronic states of illness. The GI MIT delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care with minimal instruction to assigned patients while developing technical competencies. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties Include, but are not limited to the following: Knowledge of complex gastroenterology procedures, ablation procedures, mucosal resection procedures, fine needle aspiration procedures, stenting, and capsule studies. Ability to provide briefings and orientations to hospital staff including physicians. Knowledge of regulatory and advisory agencies such as Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASG), and applicable laws ...
