PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The n GAP position in the School of Geo- and Spatial Sciences is part of an initiative by the DHET to improve the academic staffing at South African universities. It is a prestigious programme to enable young black candidates to follow a career as an academic. The n GAP employee will participate in a six-year developmental programme on a permanent full-time basis under the University's normal conditions of service and will work under the supervision of an appointed mentor. In order to achieve the developmental aims of the programme, the n GAP employee will have a reduced teaching load over the first three years of their appointment.
