Job Description
A Journeyman Electrician is a licensed professional who has completed a 4- to 5-year apprenticeship. They independently install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and control systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
Core Responsibilities
+ Installation & Assembly: Read blueprints and schematics to layout, assemble, and install electrical conduit, wiring, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
+ Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Use testing devices (e.g., multimeters, receptacle testers) to locate faults, repair equipment failures, and perform preventative maintenance.
+ Safety & Compliance: Inspect and evaluate electrical systems to ensure they operate safely and efficiently, actively avoiding hazards and keeping up to date with code revisions.
