Job Description

Evacuee Support Worker will provide mental health and cultural support to evacuees and others impacted by wildfires and natural disasters. Must have knowledge of Indigenous cultures and way of life, and provide support in a person‑centered manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness programming.
  • Organize supports and network with emergency support services.
  • Organize individual or group programming and connect with Elders.
  • Provide debriefing and sensory safe spaces for those experiencing distress, trauma, and grief.
  • Facilitate wellness sessions and groups on a variety of topics.
  • Organize structured activities for children, youth, families, and Elders.
  • Organize cultural crafts, activities, teachings, and land‑based activities.
  • Collect data and prepare reports.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions.
