Environmental Coordinator

Position Description

Leads the County’s environmental compliance efforts by managing erosion and sediment control programs, coordinating plan reviews, conducting field inspections, and addressing stormwater and land disturbance issues. Partners with internal staff, state agencies, and the public to balance development with environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance.

The position will remain open until filled; however, initial review of applications will begin immediately, with first-round interviews anticipated the week of May 11.

Position Objectives

• Coordinates plan review with Powhatan County Public Works, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
• Conducts environmental field surveys for land use cases and makes appropriate recommendations.
