Diesel Mechanic

Reports To – Senior Mechanic/Divisional Head

Purpose of Position – To repair mechanical and electrical faults of diesel vehicles and machinery

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in plant and fleet maintenance
• Red Seal Certificate
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work out of town for short periods
• Able to work well in a team
• Must have own tools
• Earthmoving equipment experience – preferably CAT, Komatsu & JCB
• Minimum 5 years’ field service experience

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults of diesel vehicles and machinery
• Diagnose engine trouble and replace or repair defective parts
• Completing job cards and furnishing information of parts that should be ordered
• Assist in training learners
• Perform administrative functions
