Design Drafter

**Description**

We are seeking a detail-oriented **Design Drafter / Engineering Designer** to support the planning, design, and permitting of gas and electric utility infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for preparing engineering exhibits and technical documentation in support of **Caltrans Encroachment Permit Applications** , including the development of **Design Standard Decision Documents (DSDDs)** and **Encroachment Policy Exceptions (EPEs)** .

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, excellent technical writing skills, and experience interpreting engineering standards to develop clear, well-supported design justifications. This position works closely with permit coordinators, engineers, estimators, project managers, utility clients, and regulatory agencies to deliver high-quality packages.
