College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.

Work site environment

Noisy. Non-smoking. Air conditioned. Work setting: Child care centre. Rural area. Day care centre or nursery school.

Tasks

Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers. Order supplies and equipment. Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records. Knowledge of licensing regulations. Establish guidelines for behaviour. Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children. Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children. Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. 3-4 people. 5-10 people.
