Position Summary
The aim of this course is to study and understand the social, political, and cultural significance of popular music in the 20th and 21st Centuries. Topics include genres, individual artists and groups, stylistic trends, record labels and recording technologies, media representation and celebrity construction, as well as the role of race, class, gender, sexuality, and regional differences in the reception of popular music. Position Requirements The successful candidate must have completed a MA, MFA, or a PhD with a focus Popular Music Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, or equivalent as relevant to the course.- Evidence of experience teaching critical theories related to popular music cultures, politics, and identities;
