Consultant in Medical Microbiology/Infection

This new Consultant in Infection post will be based mainly at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital although some clinical microbiology commitments will also take place at Cheltenham General Hospital and some community sites. This is a full time post for a Consultant in Infection covering general clinical infection and microbiology responsibilities with a specific role of Infection Control Doctor (ICD) for the Trust. Work closely with microbiology, pathology and colleagues in healthcare to ensure provision of a comprehensive clinical medical microbiology service including advice and policy development regarding pre‑examination, examination and post‑examination phases.

This work will include clinical rounds including visits to wards and specialist units such as the Departments of Critical Care, clinical interpretation / authorisation of reports and MDT attendance. Meetings with pharmacy colleagues take place as part of antimicrobial stewardship within the Trust.
