Job Description
Lead, organise and participate in multi-disciplinary teams for gallery maintenance. Assist in the implementation of preventive conservation programs including integrated pest management, collection condition surveys, re-housing, storage maintenance and development. Evaluate material condition, identify hazards, recommend and implement conservation/preservation treatments and hazard mitigation strategies for objects of a variety of material types. Document all aspects of conservation and preservation activities and decisions in the Memorial’s Collection Management System, Digital Asset Management System and corporate document management system (SharePoint). Undertake research and scientific analysis to determine the material composition, deterioration mechanisms, and condition of materials in determining and implementing the appropriate methodology for display or long term preservation.
