Job Description

New Zealand Government is seeking a hands-on conservation professional for a short-term, full-time role on Rakiura Stewart Island from 21 September 2026 to 15 January 2027. You will conduct extensive field surveys, monitor the Critically Endangered Pukunui / Southern New Zealand Dotterel, and set up nest cameras while collecting and managing data. 
The position requires strong back-country experience, ability to work independently in remote exposed locations, GIS mapping skills, and the capacity
