Job Overview

The Caithness Integrated Midwifery Team are looking for a midwife keen to experience remote and rural midwifery practice as part of our small, friendly Community Midwifery Unit (CMU). The post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to practice midwife‑led care and to develop skills as an autonomous practitioner in a remote and rural setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide maternity services within the community midwifery unit based in Caithness General Hospital and across the Caithness and North Sutherland area.
• Support the choice of local birth in a low‑risk environment, facilitate approximately 15 births annually, and support around 120 pregnant people throughout pregnancy and postnatal journey.
• Work closely with NHS Highland Obstetric, Midwifery and Neonatal Maternity Unit in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness for transfer of higher‑risk pregnancies and sick neonates.
