Job Description
Position Summary:
A Commis Chef operates as the assistant to a Demi Chef and Chef De Partie. They perform various kitchen duties, such as assisting chef de parties in meal preparations, receiving deliveries, and rotating stock. A part of their duties is to figure out how much supplies of food will need to be ordered. He/she should be aware of the specific ingredients and their measurement. They are also responsible for tasting meals before they are served to customers, to ensure that it meets the standard. A successful Commis chefs demonstrate excellent organizational skills and are attentive to the kitchen's needs. Working alongside the Chef De Partie gives the Commis Chef an opportunity to learn and grow as a chef.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Checks the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
