Catering Assistant

Position

An exciting opportunity for a General Catering Assistant on the Catering Team at the Balfour. The role involves assisting with food preparation, restaurant operation, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality patient meal service: three meals per day for up to 50 patients.
• Assist chefs and serve food in the public restaurant, handling upwards of 150 meals daily.
• Deliver meals to wards and support kitchen operations.
• Work as part of a small team under the supervision of the Supervisor Chef / Retail & Restaurant Supervisor and the Catering Team Lead.

Qualifications

• Elementary food hygiene certificate, or willingness to undertake training to obtain the qualification (training provided by NHS Orkney and partners).

Location & Working Pattern

Based at The Balfour . The position is part‑time, 23 hours per week, and permanent.
