Automation Engineer

About the role

To lead and deliver automation initiatives across manufacturing and end-of-line production equipment, ensuring reliable, compliant, and efficient operations within a GMP pharmaceutical environment. The Automation Engineer will drive the automation of packaging and end-of-line systems, maintain process control infrastructure, and support capital projects as part of the Site Engineering function.

Key responsibilities

• Design, program, commission, and maintain PLC/SCADA/HMI systems for production and utility equipment
• Lead automation of end-of-line production equipment including packaging lines, labellers, checkweighers, vision systems, and case erectors/sealers
• Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for new automated systems
• Manage automation-related capital projects from concept through commissioning, including vendor management and technical review
