**Description**
The Assistant Department Manager is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of employee owners within the T&D KC Substation Department. This includes promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values and mission and taking on specific areas of responsibility listed below, with other duties as assigned by substation department management and senior management. This position is in addition to normal substation design engineering duties.
+ Advocating for safety within the department.
+ Recruiting, developing, training, and retaining substation engineers to meet department and business objectives.
+ Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
+ Establish and proactively communicate to staff expectations, processes, policies, and guidelines to meet departmental, global practice, and company objectives.
