Assistant Chef

HC-One is looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a strong understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. Beyond the technical requirements, we seek a positive, collaborative individual who can organise work, meet deadlines, present food attractively, follow recipes to perfection and treat residents and colleagues with genuine kindness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve balanced, nutritious and appealing meals for residents in our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist Care homes.
• Support the First Chef, taking full responsibility for the kitchen in their absence.
• Manage food stocks, plan budgets and optimise resource usage.
• Coach and supervise colleagues during meal preparation and kitchen clean‑up.
• Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, food safety and HACCP throughout all operations.
