Apprentice Mechanic

Under the supervision of the Manager of Operations and Transportation with guidance and on-the-job-training from a designated journeyperson, the Mechanic Apprentice will learn to perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, alterations and modifications of district school buses, vehicles and grounds-keeping equipment within the current scope of their apprenticeship level.Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and minor repair of district buses, fleet vehicles and other equipment utilizing a variety of tools, hoists, floor jacks and materials. Performs routine and preventative maintenance tasks such as basic vehicle servicing to more difficult tasks such as engine or transmission overhaul.Learns to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues.Performs all work in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and codes.Assists with maintaining accurate records on all district vehicles including inspections, repairs, maintenance ...
