Airport Equipment Operator

Overview

The Airport Equipment Operator exists to maintain the airport in compliance with the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).This position maintains the airfield grass within specified heights, repairs concrete and asphalt pavement to FAA specifications, supports/deletes and creates airfield markings per FAA specifications, maintains safety areas to FAA specifications. They retain the airport drainage ditches, assist the landside staff with mowing and support the airport mechanic in minor equipment repairs.

Responsibilities

· Fill in ruts, level humps, remove edge dams and maintain pavement edge drop offs to less than three inches

· Trim grass around lights and guidance signs so that they are visible to pilots and vehicles operators on the paved surfaces

· Paint and remove marking on the runways, taxiways and aprons per FAA specifications
